latest series of works
When an idea becomes so ever-present that it consumes the mind, my answer is to let it play out through art.
By allowing shapes and textures lend their influence I experience the process of creation as its own way of exploration. What could this form mean? What would this surface represent in the context of the current topic?
This is how a collection of works is born. A result of months of research and exploration, each series of pieces represent my views and thought process in the moment when they were created.
Imagine a fold. Is it a fold in fabric? A fold of dough? A fold of skin or a fold of rock? Each one is the same yet endlessly different. And the way we interpret the meaning also changes with context.
This collection looks at our perception of folds in a landscape and in female body, questioning the line between distinction and imperfection.
Have you ever imagined what it was like to live in the times of civilizations now lost? What were their beliefs, their rituals, their everyday life? Even for the most researched cultures our history has gaps in knowledge and we can only guess the true meaning and purpose of the surviving objects and texts. This collection was born from contemplating the idea of items and writings with no explanation or translation, leaving the viewer the freedom to interpret each piece
Loneliness seems like a very clear concept on the surface, but look at it closer and it unfolds into endless depths and dimentions. We each feel it in a unique and personal way, and this series is about different experiences of loneliness and support we need in order to live through it mindfully.
This is the collection which lost a portion of works when my car was broken into. Those pieces and my thoughts about the experience are in a separate series I called “The stolen”
Hours after I photographed these pieces they were stolen from my car. After the initial shock and sadness I began to wonder about the feelings and thoughts this event had brought on. From absurd humor to disconnect to inspiration. I decided to combine the photos I took with my reflections on the experience into a separate collection on the website.
