About ME
Hello, my name is Natasha.
I am the artist behind Yaroshenko Arts. I have a passion for clay: it’s plasticity, it’s chemistry, it’s unpredictability and conection to the earth. Ceramics is my partner, a way to express myself, my therapy and my statement.
I have discovered the world of ceramics when I emerged from nine years of intence motherhood. I felt the need to not just work, but to have this work be meaningful to me and others. I didn’t know what I wanted to do, and so I decided to go ahead and try the things that I always wanted to experience. Ceramics was the first on the list, and I fell in love the very first time I tried it. Weather it was luck or divine intervention, but I found my passion.
Although it was an unlikely choice after a degree in mathematics and psychology studies, clay actually allowed me to incorporate all of my knowledge into my creations.
Since then I have been furthering my studies through courses and workshops with other artists as well as more formal curriculum at Los Angeles Valley College. I constantly continue to learn and apply new knowledge to my work.
In my work I explore shapes and textures, choosing an earthy pallette to play the role of a neutral canvas. My inspiration comes from working with ideas and concepts through research and personal exploration. I like to let the idea grow, get deeper and wider, become more and more complex before concentrating it into a simple, often minimalist form. All of my work has a connection to land, with it’s endless variety. I am grateful to be living in California where nature is always present in many roles and iterations. Not only is it part of how my pieces take shape and develop texture, but often the land itself becomes part of the vessel throuigh the use of local clays and rocks.
As I continue my artistic journey I am looking forward to discovering new depths not only of ceramic medium but also myself
