Folds
Unlike most other collection I create this one hasn’t started as one. I was making what felt good in the moment: curvy vases folded on themselves. As the shapes were emerging, my mind was wondering between two images: an intricately shaped rock, smooth and fluid, and a female body, creating folds with every move. Folds created in my own body by the passing of time, by my children, by accident.
For millions of years the surface of this planet has been burned, drowned, shaken, shaped and refolded. The landscape we see today is a collection of scars, veins, wrinkles, discolorations and imperfections uncounted. And these are ultimately what we treasure the most: rivers and mountains, valleys and peaks, changing of colors and shapes. Ultimately, they are all “flaws”, the antithesis of regular and smooth
do we treasure this variety in a female body? the answer is personal for everyone. I think every woman beautiful, i see inspiration in every kind of body. Except mine. I am still learning to love it unconditionally, and i am far from where i have started, but even further from where i want to be.
